Nutrition Services Department Receives Honors

The district’s Nutrition Services Department has recently earned notable recognition for its outstanding work. The department received a School Lunch Honorable Mention Award in the Say Yes! to School Meals Photo Contest, highlighting its commitment to providing appealing and nutritious meals for students.

Dish: Chicken Tikka Masala

This meal features:

Chicken Tikka Masala
Brown Rice
Mini naan
Fresh tomatoes, romaine lettuce, and fresh carrots from the salad bar
Fresh banana
Milk

Chicken Tikka Masala offers students in grades 6-12 a rich sauce and tender chicken in a new flavor profile from the average lunch offering. One student said their mom makes Chicken Tikka Masala at home, and they were excited to see it offered at school too. The meal is so popular, White Bear Lake plans to expand it to the elementary level.

Why White Bear Lake food service staff say students should Say Yes! to School Lunch: “School lunch is delicious, fun, and nutritious, with kid-friendly options that encourage students to try new foods while keeping them fueled to learn all day.”

In addition, Nutrition Services Specialist Brianna Caverzagie was selected to attend the 2026 School Nutrition Association Executive Leadership Program, held in partnership with the Georgetown McDonough School of Business. This prestigious program supports the development of emerging leaders in school nutrition, further strengthening the district’s capacity to serve students well.
